The role and function of the Moreton Bay Presbytery is to provide superintendence over all matters relating to doctrine, discipline and order in the charges (churches) within its boundary. The Presbytery also acts as a superior court to the courts (Kirk Sessions) of the individual charges (churches).

The Presbytery generally meets on a bi-monthly basis. Scheduled Presbytery meetings for the balance of calendar 2020 are as follows: Tuesday 1st September, and Tuesday 3rd November. The area comprising the Moreton Bay Presbytery includes the Moreton Bay Regional Council local government area and the Brisbane City Council suburbs of Shorncliffe, Sandgate, Brighton, Bracken Ridge and Bald Hills." The Presbytery includes the charges (congregations) of City Heart (Caboolture), Peace (Deception Bay), Woody Point & Scarborough (Peninsula), Sandgate, Christ Central (Eatons Hill & North Pine), and Bald Hills.

What we believe
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 1 Timothy 2:5-6

The confessional standard of the Presbyterian Church is the Westminster Confession of Faith, which we believe sets out the essential doctrines of faith and our way of life.

The key elements in the Westminster Confession of Faith are the sovereignty of God in creation, providence and redemption, the centrality of the life, death and resurrection of the God-Man Jesus Christ in God’s purposes, and the necessity of the Holy Spirit in the application of all aspects of salvation. The Confession also highlights the nature and purpose of the Church, and the need to acknowledge the Lordship of Christ in every area of life.

PRESBYTERY MEETING. 6th June 2023 commencing at 7 PM at Sandgate Presbyterian Church, Loudon Street, Sandgate
Sandgate Presbyterian Church invites you to a Christmas in July Luncheon, to raise funds for the Chaplains at Sandgate and Shorncliffe State Schools. The event will be held on the 30th July at 12:00 pm (mid-day). A three course lunch will be provided at a cost of $25 per person. Please note, there are limited numbers so bookings are essential. Please RSVP to Joan on 0499 102382 by 18th June. Payment with the RSVP would be appreciated.
The Queensland State Assembly sits from Thursday 15th June through to Saturday 17th June. Please pray for the Assembly and the Commissioners to Assembly as they receive various reports and consider and decide on important matters in the life of the Presbyterian Church.

Evangelism, Discipleship and Missions

The Rev Emmanuvel Jhonly is preparing for missionary service and along with supporters has established a Not for Profit Charity, the Indian reformed Fellowship Queensland for this purpose. A governing Council has been elected and Emmanuvel is now seeking support. Emmanuel will be seconded to the Indian Reformed Fellowship Australia (IRFA) and work with them in India, under a Memorandum of Understanding (currently awaiting execution by the parties). Emmanuvel's primary area of work will be with the Hope Reformed Congregations in South India.
